Message from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs - College of Engineering and Information Technology

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of the Prophets and Messengers, our Master Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.

It gives me great pleasure, in my capacity as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences for Academic Affairs, and as a faculty member specializing in Solid State Physics and Nanotechnology at Hajjah University, to extend my warmest welcome to everyone in the precincts of the Hajjah University website. It is a source of pride and honor for me to belong to the Faculty of Applied Sciences as the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs since the year 2020 until now. We are exerting all possible efforts for the academic advancement of the faculty despite the circumstances of the blockade imposed on the Republic of Yemen. Nevertheless, the faculty specifically, and the university in general, are in continuous progress by opening new specializations and new colleges. We are working continuously to bring the faculty to its most prosperous academic era, with a renewed vision and ambitions aspiring towards the future, based on sound scientific foundations.

Today, the Faculty of Applied Sciences includes a distinguished elite of academic, technical, and administrative teaching staff for the success of its unique and distinguished applied specializations represented by the qualitative academic departments that constitute essential pillars for sustainable development, namely: Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Microbiology, Industrial Chemistry, and Geology and Mining. These specializations did not come out of nowhere; rather, they are the fruit of an extensive study of the needs of the local and regional labor market, keeping pace with the latest global scientific trends.

Hajjah University possesses a distinguished group of academics specialized in natural sciences, applied sciences, and humanities, who strive diligently to develop the colleges and departments by opening new programs and pathways that keep pace with scientific progress. From the perspective of our specific specialization in Solid State Physics and Nanotechnology, for example, we fully realize the importance of keeping pace with the scientific and technical revolution the world is witnessing. Today, science is no longer an intellectual luxury, but rather an integrated Industry that starts in university laboratories and ends with products that serve humanity. The development we witness in the fields of electronics, renewable energy, and medical devices is but the fruit of research in Solid State Physics and Nanotechnology.

Within the framework of this vision, I am pleased to bring you the good news that the Artificial Intelligence program has been inaugurated. This promising specialization will open new horizons for our students. It can be said that the Artificial Intelligence specialization, which represents the pinnacle of progress in the field of computers, has coincided with Nanotechnology, which represents the pinnacle of progress in materials science. These two are two sides of the same coin in shaping the future, as these two technologies overlap in fields such as nanosensors, smart devices, superconducting materials, information and network connectivity, and the miniaturization of devices. We aspire to open new applied specializations to link these two fields.

Because our academic vision knows no bounds, under the leadership of the new and ambitious university, we look forward with great ambition to opening new departments that keep pace with the requirements of the era, foremost among which is the Department of Graphics and Multimedia, and activating the departments of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics with modern specializations and programs that link technical sciences with natural sciences. This specialization meets a growing need in the digital labor market.

Nor have we stopped there; rather, our ambitious academic plan extends to the postgraduate level, where we are currently working on developing qualitative Master's programs in applied and vital specializations. The opening of Master's programs will constitute a qualitative leap in the faculty's trajectory, enabling our graduates to continue scientific research and specialized study, to contribute effectively to solving societal and developmental problems.

In a message to my beloved students, what you are witnessing today of academic expansion and development is the fruit of careful planning and a firm belief that knowledge is the only way to build a bright future. I call upon you to strive and persevere, for you are the pillars of the future and the makers of the renaissance.

In conclusion, I renew my thanks to my colleagues, the faculty members, for their sincere efforts, and I ask Allah for success and guidance for everyone, beseeching the Almighty that Hajjah University remains a beacon of knowledge, beneficial to its nation and its Ummah.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
